Hosted by the Brothers of Pi Delta Psi Fraternity Tau Chapter and the Sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi Sorority Nu Chapter at Pennsylvania State University

This year marked the fourth annual “Think Pink” Charity Ball brought to the University Park campus of the Pennsylvania State University by Pi Delta Psi and alpha Kappa Delta Phi. This year’s Charity Ball was hosted on April 10th in the HUB-Robeson Center’s Alumni Hall.

Every year, this Charity Ball is created to raise funds to aid the battle against Breast Cancer. Over the past 3 years, this event was solely hosted by the sisters of alpha Kappa Delta Phi, but this year, the brothers of Pi Delta Psi joined in to help the cause. It is a semi-formal event in which students, teachers, or residents of Penn State campus may attend and included food and various entertainment. The two organizations hoped that by working together, this event would become more successful. Indeed it did, for this year, the event raised over $800.00 for Avon’s Breast Cancer Crusade, which was the greatest turn-out over the past four years!

This event was planned since fall semester of 2010 and preparations were done all the way until the day of the Ball in the spring semester of 2011. This year’s Charity Ball was a karaoke-themed event, in which participants of the event may request one song to sing for the night with their various groups of friends. Other forms of entertainment that was featured during the event included a homemade video that informed the audience of various facts about Breast cancer, a live musical performance, and a silent auction. The audience also received free pins as favors for attending the event. Food was catered to them from a local catering service and a local Chinese restaurant.
