March of Dimes‘ March for Babies is on coming up on April 27, 2014. This is a cause close to our hearts, as every year, Brothers from all over fundraise for and join Team Parker Chen.

Parker Edward Chen, the son of Brother Ed Chen (Prox), was born 2 1/2 months too soon (30 weeks). He spent 8 months at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital’s NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and 2 months at their PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit). He spent almost 3 months at Children’s Specialized Hospital for rehab, and finally came home on May 8th, 2009. He will turn 6 years old on April 10th, 2014. He currently has medical issues that still need to be resolved.

Parker was diagnosed with CHARGE Syndrome, a genetic abnormality that occurs in 1 out of 10,000 babies. Despite this, he has surprised us everyday with his love of life, enjoying every small detail, and never letting anything get in his way. He is such a determined little fighter and an inspiration showing us how strong and capable he can be.

We encourage all Brothers to donate to and join Team Parker Chen. With strength in numbers, we can make a difference! Those that decide to join, ask your employers about their company matching program. To donate or join, visit

Funds raised in March for Babies support research and programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives, as well as bring comfort and information to families with a baby in newborn intensive care.
